At the type locality, the Bayan Obo deposit, Baotou League, Inner Mongolia, China, fergusonite-(Ce)-β occurs in magnesian
skarn around carbonatite-derived dolomitic
marble, associated with diopside,
phlogopite and apatite (Dana, AM 60.485).
